A Seattle turn-of-the century homemeant that it was important to keep the historic feel of this home. We built a new bay for an eating nook in the kitchen that mirrors the bay window in the front dining room. We also revised an add-on mud room (door to right) to create a powder room on the main floor. Cabinets are custom cherry in a dark furniture-sheen stain. Farmer sink (to right front) is also in keeping with the era.
Contemporary Dome Homeon the Slue has been completely updated from its original early 80s design. Darker wood is gone and light pine walls brighten up the interior. Backsplashes are triangular patterned metal. Upper cabinets are suspended on accessory poles holding stainless baskets, wine holders and spice racks. Floor in the kitchen area is an interesting galaxy tile design created by the client.
Seattle post-war bungalow kitchenwas enlarged by removing a wall (between the two windows shown.) This created a larger galley kitchen with an eat-at bar. Cabinets are Alder in a Shaker style. To accomodate the tall ceiling and provide extra storage, we stacked wall cabinets. Countertops are Silestone with a rusty stone-look porcelain tile backsplash and slate-look tile flooring.
Era 1920s deco style home on Capital Hill was opened up to allow the cook to talk to guests in the dining room. The original kitchen was tight and closed off from the rest of the home. Our designer created an open pass-through pennisula to house a slide-in cooktop on the kitchen side. On the dining room side, leaded glass cabinet doors, columns and arches create a china-hutch/sideboard. A perfect blend of traditional styling and modern convenience.
A Kirkland home with a great, but hidden, view of the lake received an addition out back to capture the view. The addition received a bank of large windows, as well as upper and lower decks to capture and enjoy the view. Rustic cherry floors throughout the main floor are complemented with a brick hooded range, white painted cabinetry and black slab granite countertops.
Redmond home on a greenbelt got a new kitchen with an eat-at island. The sink was moved to the back window area to capture the woodsy view. The wall between the dining room (to the left) and the kitchen was opened up, and extra storage is created with a tall pantry and a deep cabinet over the built-in refrigerator. Oak floors were refinished, and lighting was placed under cabinets and inside the glass-front display cabinets.
Seattle Condo is updated with new wood floors and kitchen, new doors, trim and fireplace. The challenge was to make room for everything the owner wished to store without feeling crowded. A raised countertop over display cabinets facing the dining room, conceals countertops & allows the cook some privacy. Corian tops in neutral shade are complemented with a full-height white tile backsplash and inset blue diamonds to show off their blue-glass collection.
This Redmond kitchenkept the same basic footprint, but was updated with new light maple cabinetry, an easy-maintenance laminate floor and Silestone countertops. The center island features a raised eating bar. Directly behind that the original closet pantry was removed, opening up the wall to create a continuous bank of cabinetry including a matching cabinetry pantry, broom closet and double oven.
